Coffee reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes, scientists found

American scientists from the analysis of metadata, which were collected in 28 studies conducted in the United States, found that the use of natural coffee reduces the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. The study was conducted on a large scale, as evidenced by the number of participants – 1.1 million people. Its results were published in the latest issue of the scientific journal Diabetes Care.

“According to the results of the study, which took into account the individual characteristics of the body of each person, as well as the negative impact of coffee on human health in general, this drink helps to reduce the risk of a disease like diabetes mellitus of the second type,” the correspondents of one of the publications informed.

It turns out those people who drink coffee in moderation, but regularly, in fact, never encounter a disease such as type 2 diabetes compared with those who do not drink this drink at all or drink very rarely.

According to the researchers, one of the acceptable explanations for reducing the risk of diabetes with regular coffee consumption may be the influence of a phenolic compound, chlorogenic acid and the main component of coffee. Chlorogenic acid increases the sensitivity of tissues to insulin and reduces the absorption of glucose into the blood.

It is also worth recalling that type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-insulin-dependent diabetes) is a metabolic disease that is inherited. According to statistics, over the past few years, the number of people around the world who have become ill with this disease has increased 6 times. According to doctors, in a few years the number of people with type 2 diabetes will be simply disastrous.
