What is diabetes

For the first time, the existence of diabetes was found out in the second century AD, but the reasons for its appearance became clear only in our time, when a parallel was drawn between the work of the pancreas and the development of this disease. Diabetes mellitus is dangerous for its possible consequences. In order not to cause harm to health, you need to have an idea of what kind of disease it is and how it manifests itself.

Diabetes is a disease caused by metabolic disorders. As a result of this, the required amount of insulin ceases to be produced in the body, due to which the amount of sugar in the blood is regulated. This substance is produced by the pancreas. After the detection of this disease, control of blood sugar and nutritional adjustment become mandatory throughout life, otherwise the condition may worsen. Maintaining sugar at a normal level allows you to lead almost the same lifestyle as other people.

The causes of diabetes mellitus are not fully understood, as doctors are not yet able to explain this sudden metabolic disorder. Depending on how much insulin is produced, diabetes is divided into two types: insulin-dependent, in which a person needs regular injections of this substance, and non-insulin-dependent, most often caused by obesity. The latter requires medical intervention only in especially neglected cases, often enough for the patient to disappear, the patient only needs to change the diet and lose weight.

Symptoms of diabetes mellitus vary in each case, sometimes there are no signs at all and the disease is diagnosed only by passing tests. In general, increased thirst, frequent urination, weight loss, weakness and a feeling of fatigue may indicate the presence of diabetes mellitus. Sometimes there are problems with vision, a feeling of numbness in the limbs, cramps in the muscles.

If diabetes is not treated, it can lead to health complications such as blindness, renal failure, and blood vessel diseases. It is because of the problems with the latter that people with diabetes often have strokes. Therefore, it is important to diagnose the disease in a timely manner and take measures to prevent the development of complications.
